What are ducted heat pumps 

Ducted heat pumps are a whole home heating and cooling system. A single indoor unit sits in the ceiling space and connects to ducts that deliver air into each room. This creates a consistent temperature across the home rather than heating or cooling one area at a time. 

Overview of the Gree U Match range 

The Gree U Match R32 ducted heat pump range brings together updated components and design improvements to deliver strong performance and reliable operation. The range includes six models from 5.3kW through to 16kW, which means there is an option to suit small homes through to larger properties.

Built with modern inverter technology 

At the centre of the system is the Gree G10 inverter module paired with a high efficiency DC inverter compressor. This setup allows the unit to adjust its output in small steps rather than turning on and off like older systems. 

This results in more stable indoor temperatures and better energy use over time. The system only works as hard as it needs to, which helps reduce power consumption. 

All key components are DC powered, including the fan motors and expansion valve. This allows for more precise control and improved efficiency compared to older AC based systems. 

Designed for better airflow and efficiency 

The U Match range includes several design updates that improve how air moves through the system. 

These include improved copper tubing that increases heat transfer, updated coil designs that reduce resistance, and fan blades shaped to move air more smoothly. A low resistance grille design also helps reduce noise while maintaining airflow.

Flexible installation options  

Installing ducted heat pumps can be challenging in some homes, especially when ceiling access is limited. Gree has addressed this by designing a detachable indoor unit. The fan and coil can be separated, which allows installation through a 450mm ceiling opening. 

The system also offers flexibility during setup. There are nine static pressure settings, which allows the airflow to be adjusted to suit the duct layout. Return air can be configured from different positions, and both pump and gravity drain options are available. 

This flexibility makes the system suitable for both new builds and older homes. 

Zone control 

Optional zone control allows the home to be divided into up to eight separate areas. Each zone can be controlled independently, which means you can heat or cool only the rooms you are using. 

This helps reduce energy use. Bedrooms, living areas, and offices can all be set to different temperatures based on how the space is used. 

Warranty and durability 

The Gree U Match systems include a range of built in protection features. The outdoor unit includes a coated circuit board to resist moisture and corrosion, along with a rodent proof electrical box. 

The system is designed to operate across a wide range of temperatures and voltage conditions. It also includes self-diagnosis features to help identify faults quickly, which can make servicing easier. 

A six year parts and labour warranty supports the system, backed by Gree’s long standing presence in New Zealand and a nationwide support network. 

Integration and control options 

The system can be connected to a range of control options depending on the project requirements. This includes central controllers for managing multiple units, as well as integration with building management systems through Modbus. 

Optional controls such as dry contact inputs and access card functions are also available, which can be useful in commercial or accommodation settings.
